19th Century
Sudan
Kev has a superb collection of mostly Perry figures, photos of which accompany this website section.
My own collection started with a visit to Peter Gilder’s company, Connoisseur, based in Scarborough, England. In those days you could but single figures from most companies which suited my finances at the time. I supplemented my collection with Hadenowah and Ansar from Old Glory, Camel Corps from Essex, river boats and crews from Redoubt and anything else which looked period suitable.
I recently wrote an article for the Wargames Annual on the British Camel Corps which is worth a read!

Indian Mutiny
I was inspired by the original release of the Indian Mutiny range from Wargames Foundry. In those days new figure releases were often accompanied by detail line drawings as well as painted examples appearing in the various magazines. One particular cover photo of a Perry brothers’ game did it for me and ever since I have been gradually adding more units.
I commission Gary Chalk to build me a Residency building which has been much admired over the years at games, shows and has often appeared in other gamers rule sets.
My figure collection now includes Wargames Foundry, Iron Duke, Dixon, Old Glory and a smattering of character figures from other ranges. Buildings are either scratch built or supplemented by those from the Colonial Steamboat Company.
