Pike and Shot
English Civil War
It’s fair to say we love gaming the English Civil war. Over the years we have put on display games of actual historical conflicts as well as fictitional ones. Our figures collections include all the usual suspects and include sculpts by Renegade, Wargames Foundry, Eureka, Warlord and any others we find that look the part. I have recently added many of the Bloody Miniatures range to my painting pile.
We have struggled a bit with rule sets. Black Powder was our early choice, but we have now moved to The Pikeman’s Lament which works well for our smaller 2-hour games.

Samurai
I always avoided Samurai in the past but have recently been inspired by playing Ghosts of Tsushima on the PS5 and watching the latest version of Shogun on TV. The new figures from Fireforge are stunning sculpts and paint up beautifully. You can use such vibrant colours, and it has been a joy researching this new period for me.
I’m awaiting some new buildings from Oshiro Models and will no doubt supplement these by some of the offerings from Sarissa and others.
I’m looking at the various available rule sets including Ronin, Test of Honour and others as I expect most of my gaming will be on a skirmish scale rather than full scale battles.
