Stargrave
I liked the concept behind Stargrave and thought it had great possibilities for a sci-fi but not necessarily hi-tech setting. The available box sets of figures from North Star are excellent and I had great fun putting the various bits together with the vast variety of options in each set. I have only played one game so far which was pretty brutal but fun. But I have painted all of my figures! One for the future.
Game of Thrones
Kev and Viv put together an excellent display of figures, scenery and terrain inspired by the Game of Thrones books and tv series. For rules we used the Lion Rampant / Dragon Rampant series with figures from a variety of manufacturers. The buildings were made by Tabletop World of Croatia, painted by Kevin and with icicles and other dressing added by Viv, who also had the, now much copied, idea of adding mirrors to the table.
X Wing
X Wing has been an easy go to game for us for a few years now. The availability of pre-painted models either new or on Ebay, a well written rule set and good beginners box sets and all you need is a suitable playing surface. We use a game mat or just a dark cloth.
